There was so much talent in the room that we had to open the stage up to allow people to ‘take the mic!’. Below you can see what we call ‘2morro groups’ providing updates on their projects, any ideas that sprung up during the day, and also the groups that won the funding from the BIG Lottery Fund. Read through and let us know any of your ideas too.

Propatees & Accessories Project

Positive words and images to add to fashion and create a more positive and inspiring change.

“There’s not enough love out there and that’s what we want to do something about”  they are reaching out to young people – they will recruit people who can be leaders  in their local communities.  They will give them inspirational tools, and work with them.

Michelle sees the propatees project as a way of reaching out to youth, especially females.  She says positive influences are needed and the Tee shirts are part of that.  Helping people to make a change to their life.

Mo says “I do media in college and I want to start my own business.  I was born and bred in Brent – there’s a lot of gun and knife crime and a lot of peer pressure and young people who are in the ‘hood’ mentality – with tee shirts that say ‘stop snitching’.  With this project’s tee shirts – with positive messages he feels that the people will change.  They will read it and spread the message.

They will train 32 young people as peer mentors and aim to reach over 1,000 young people, through the schools.

Panel comments:

Marc likes it – a new way of creating brand messages – heart on sleeve.  Good way to iterate.

Best chances media, music and visual arts scheme

Panel comments

Michelle – likes the project; really inspiring.  Daniel says makes a change from all the sporting emphasis and that they have consulted the local young people.

Creativity [Summer School] Media Camp – Ideas Foundation

They asking for a £8,300 to run a Creativity Media Camp – run by young people for young people.  Recruit 60 young people.  Go for a week course.  Working with professionals on a real life brief.
